Episode 7: She Had Grasped the Secret Before She Knew It!
The episode starts off with a recap of the previous episode.
Introduction
Jubei II is inside a circle of sword-wielding warriors. She closes her eyes and everyone attacks. However, she anticipates their every move and is able to defend herself with her armor. After the failed attacks, they flee. When she opens her eyes again, she is back to Jiyu and finds the 13th star. She just needed to close her eyes.
After dinner, Jiyu recommends that her dad change his writing style a bit to expand beyond the usual samurai stories. He thinks it's a good idea. Meanwhile, at the Ruffian camp, everyone's asleep and Shiro is still passed out in the pit at Hajime's hut. Koinosuke returns when Jiyu has fallen asleep and does something to Jiyu.
In the morning, Jiyu discovers she is wearing a urinal-esque mask with only a hole for the right eye. Koinosuke explains that it's so she gets used to using only one eye and that the well-made mask can't be removed. She tries to cook breakfast but her eggs miss the pan. She contemplates her situation and resolves to go to school as she is. After all, no matter how she looks, she is still Jiyu. She attempts to ride her bike, but ends up walking to school instead.
At Hajime's residence, Hajime drops a ladder down to Shiro. He asks Shiro to fight for the Ryujoji School because the previous assassin had failed.
Jiyu walks by the Ruffian camp and the first thing they say is "urinal queen." When Shiro sees her, he also says "urinal." Upon discovering it's Jiyu, he tries to correct himself saying she's not the urinal queen. She says she is accepting his challenge in the afternoon. The new mask and the acceptance make Shiro a bit suspicious.
In class, the teacher had to call attendance before he recognized her. Maro comments that she looks like a urinal, but Sachi goes over and unzips it. Jiyu becomes embarrassed.
Shiro is in his class thinking whether the mask is a new weapon to get him off guard, but in deep though, the teacher calls out his name and he responds with "it's occupied!" Otome looks on from afar and blames Jiyu for having Shiro embarrass himself.
Intermission
Professor Riddle. What type of puzzle is known to simply amaze? A MAZE!
During break, Jiyu blows on her whistle and Koinosuke comes running. He sees her and is astounded that she got the mask off. She says she doesn't need the mask because she's already perfected the Jubei-style Mutodori, where she fights without a sword. Koinosuke is amazed at how fast she learned this and goes to Yagyu Jubei's grave to tell him about this miracle.
During Shiro's break, he spends the time in the bathroom staring at a urinal making sure he doesn't laugh. Back in class, Jiyu tells Maro that she can't make it to the dessert shop again. She tells her she needs to fight.
Before she leaves for fighting, she goes to the dojo and gives a few words about her mom so she feel protected. Then the involved parties go to the fighting area. Shiro is there, Jiyu is there, and the assassins from yesterday night are there too. Jiyu puts on her eye-patch and transforms. Being Jubei II, she just closes her eyes.
Shiro wonders what she is doing, but starts to attack her. However, he does not make any contact and Jubei II does not react. Then, Hajime appears and orders his men to attack her. Jubei II senses this and whoops ass. She then drops the sword she used and goes back to the closed-eye stance. Shiro concedes. He then gets the strength and attacks again, this time just enough to cut off the eye-patch. She collapses.
The Ruffians and Koinosuke appear and when Koinosuke sees Jubei II's defeat, he attempts to commit suicide. Bantaro stops him and says she needs to be taken to a doctor and her dad needs to be notified. When Shiro wants to leave though, Hajime has his men attack him. When Shiro is down, Hajime takes the eye-patch.
