Episode 8: I Attached This Thing to My Head
Kozaru is banging on the Nanohana's house. Sai opens the door and Kozaru tells him Bantaro is taking Jiyu to the doctor's office. Sai apparently doesn't like that idea and they go find Bantaro.
Introduction
Just before Bantaro rings the doorbell to the doctor's house, Sai shows up and offers to take Jiyu home. The Ruffians say that she needs a doctor's attention, but Sai says he hates doctors. Bantaro then suggests Shiro's mother, who's a nurse. Sai reluctantly agrees. At Shiro's place, Shiro's mom doesn't have any idea what Jiyu is down with. Jiyu is burning up, but other than that she's fine. She says they should call a doctor, but Sai says no. Shiro mom acquiesces but says her temperature must come down before she can do anything.
Koinosuke starts his pity talk, but Sai tells him to shut up and asks the Ruffians what happened. Bantaro almost spills the truth, but Kozaru and Ozaru, remembering what Shiro had said, quickly interject that they don't know. Sai tells them to go home, but Bantaro decides to camp outside Shiro's house. The other Ruffians and Koinosuke follow suit.
Inside, Sai tries to cool Jiyu, but not even ice can cool her down. Now comes the one of the most controversial scenes in the series. Sai takes off Jiyu's clothes and he strips down to his boxers. He dumps cold water on himself and then lies on Jiyu to dissipate the heat. Although it burns him, he does it continuously. Meanwhile, it flashes back to the past.
Jiyu is on the phone talking to her dad at work telling him to come home because mom is sick. However, Sai can't because he's behind on work and assures Jiyu that he'll be home soon. The doctor said she had a cold but Jiyu knows it's not just a cold. When Sai returns home, Jiyu is sitting next to her mother who had just died. Jiyu explains that the doctor said she'd get better, but she didn't. When Sai tries to offer his hand to her, she politely pulls back. And so, since the death of Jiyu's mother, Sai has been trying to be the best parent that he can be. When it flashes back to the present, Sai is begging for her to come back.
Meanwhile, Hajime is adorning his purloined eye-patch. He tells a follower, who happens to be the Hontsuru High school master, Sandayu, to unlock the seven secrets of the eye-patch. Hajime then orders another assassin, Hattori, to dispose of Jiyu.
Intermission
Outside, Koinosuke senses something is wrong and screams for them to show themselves. It's an army of ninjas lead by a Mickey Mouse-like figure named Hattori. They start to swirl around the house and the Ruffians with Koinosuke fight them.
Inside, we see a figure of Jubei II holding Jiyu. After hearing her dad, Jiyu tells Jubei II that she has to go. When she wakes up, the first thing she says is "pervert." Sai is exhausted from what he has done and crashes. She again admits that she's just Jiyu, but outside, the ninjas are flying everywhere. Then one gets in the room and is about to attack Jiyu when Bantaro whaps him on the head with a stick. Koinosuke also comes in and see she's all right, but is quickly dragged outside again. Jiyu steps outside to see the fighting.
The leader, Hattori, sees Jiyu and insists that she's Jubei II. The Ruffians attack him, and Jiyu goes inside. She asks her dad how to get rid of an army of ninjas. He says that they're suckers. So, using household items, she dresses up like Jubei II and this scares off the ninjas.
Otome is in the area looking for Shiro, but he is not around. Then, she gets trampled over by the fleeing ninjas.
Shiro is okay, though. He's at Jiyu's teacher's house resting.
