Episode 9: Dad's Premonition of Love
Introduction
Shiro wakes up at Jiyu's teacher's house. He tells him that he found him at the Netasuyama Park, where the battle took place. Shiro slowly remembers what happened and that Hajime has the eye-patch.
Back at Hajime's hideout, the schoolmaster has apparently discovered the secrets of the eye-patch. It has the powers of containment (holds things), preparedness (has a mirror), and sound (makes a sound). He has 3 more, but Hajime wants to cut to the chase. He wants the 7th power, which the schoolmaster hasn't not discovered yet and so he orders the schoolmaster to discover it.
Then, a silhouetted figure appears behind Hajime. It's Taiko Daiyu and he is not happy with Hajime's failure. When Taiko disappears, Hajime orders in Hattori, berates him on his failure the night before and orders him to go get her. But this time, he wants Hattori to bring her in.
At the Nanohana house, they're having a rice cake party. The Ruffians, Jiyu, Sai, Koinosuke, Maro and Sachi are all there. Jiyu wants to make this the New Student Lovelies formation party, but Maro says that it has to be the dessert shop. Sai is watching the Ruffians and vaguely remembers that they were the ones who beat him up the first day. Bantaro denies the incident.
Maro then goes to Sai and feeds him. Kozaru and Sachi are in an argument. It turns out that Kozaru and Sachi are to be married. Jiyu sits down with Koinosuke who is a bit depressed about the past 300 years, but Jiyu leans on him and says he should start a new life. Obviously Bantaro gets jealous of this, and asks Ozaru to ask interrupt Jiyu and Koinosuke. However, Ozaru is with one of Otome's friends, Kocho. So with everyone around him, Bantaro sees that he is the only single guy.
We then see Hattori telling his army to do better this time.
Back at the Nanohana household, Mikage appears. Sai looks at her with particular interest. She asks to see Jiyu but Koinosuke disapproves since she's attacked her before. However, Jiyu goes anyways while Sai mentions the name "Makoto" again.
Intermission
After they walk a certain distance, Mikage apologizes for what she had previously done and asks her a favor. She explains that after her defeat, she woke up with wounds. However, all the people defeated by Jubei II have had their lives changed afterwards. So she wants Jiyu to save more people under the Ryujoji curse. She reads the letters that the defeated people wrote to Jiyu and each one of them had an epiphany after being defeated by Jubei II. However, Jiyu finds this overwhelming and says she's just Jiyu. She runs back. When she returns, they ask her what happened and she dodges the question. Sai then wanders off.
Shiro's classmate comes and gives Jiyu Shiro's journal. Bantaro wants to inspect it first, but the classmate says it's only for Jiyu. They call it a day because the situation is starting to get complicated. Meanwhile, Sai is catching up to Mikage and asks her to wait.
While everyone is going home, Maro comments that Jiyu is a strange fellow. Kocho mentions that Otome is strange too, but is quickly kidnapped. The Ruffians say they're worried about Jiyu and run back. At the house, Jiyu says she can't read shorthand, so the classmate reads it for her. Shiro writes about his conflict between loving Jiyu and hating Jubei II, but he thinks freeing Jiyu is the most important things. The classmate mentions that he wasn't at class today so the journal might be important. Jiyu realizes Shiro was actually doing for her and reflects on Mikage's plea. Suddenly, Hattori and the ninja's surround them.
Being gullible and ninjas, they reveal the plan about taking Jiyu back to Hajime. Jiyu agrees and Hattori is happy. Koinosuke tells her that she shouldn't do this, but he has no effect (as always). The Ruffians follow too. When they reach the hut, the captives get tied up and Hajime asks Jiyu what the power of the eye-patch is. Meanwhile, Maro and Sachi are walking home when they see Sai and Mikage. Maro starts shedding tears and Sachi is shocked because she didn't know Maro was serious.
