Episode 13: Night Gave Way to a Brand New Day

Jubei II has her sword pointed at Sai.

Introduction

Bantaro asks what she meant by her soul resting in Jubei II forever. Hajime explains that Jiyu may never come back. Since she is fighting Dark Shiro, she can't be distracted. Hajime then explains how Taiko Daiyu is the spirit of Ryujoji Daigo and that he is a descendant of Daigo. So in fact, as Ozaru points out, Jubei II is fighting a ghost. Bantaro freaks out because he's afraid of ghosts. Hajime explains that this angered spirit just wants revenge. All the while, Sai is listening in on this.

Sai reflects upon the similarities between how he was and how Jiyu is now. Koinosuke then appears to say he thinks something's wrong. The Ruffians and Hajime grab him and bring him up to speed. Sai then asks Koinosuke what Jiyu did to deserve this. Koinosuke goes on about how he was granting the wishes of Yagyu Jubei, but before he finishes, Sai gives him a crooked jaw. Sai wants to know how to get Jiyu back, but Koinosuke doesn't have the answer.

Meanwhile, Jubei II is in the forest looking up and calling out to Taiko Daiyu. Taiko Daiyu jumps down and fights. He eventually knocks her sword away and has her pinned. But just as he is about to stab her chest, Shiro takes over his body and holds back the thrust. She tells Jubei II to defeat Dark Shiro while he is holding him back. She whoops ass.

After the defeat, the spirit leaves and Shiro is back to normal. However, Taiko Daiyu warns that he will come back as many times as necessary. Shiro then explains how he was weak and Taiko Daiyu got into him. He then admits to himself that the reason he woke up inside Dark Shiro was that he saw Jubei II's "beauty" just before the final blow.

Bantaro is now committed to saving Jiyu, but just as he's about to leave, Jubei II comes back with Shiro on her back. Everyone wants Jiyu to return, but she says Taiko Daiyu is still around so her job isn't finished. Bantaro tries to calm the situation by singing his song. Sai then tells Jubei II to fight him instead.

Intermission

Sai tells her that if he wins, she would return Jiyu. Everyone says Sai is crazy. Trying to downplay everything, Bantaro tries singing his song again. But he just tells him to shut up and then calls upon the spirit of Taiko Daiyu to use his body. Bantaro then coins the term, "Dark Sai."

While the swords are deadlocked, Sai calls out to Jiyu from inside Dark Sai's body. He tells her to jump out on his mark. She does so and Sai splits from Taiko Daiyu and Jiyu splits from Jubei II. The spirit of Jubei II sees this and kills Taiko Daiyu. The Ryujoji hut crumbles.

Now it's morning and Mikage wakes up at the doctor's. Shiro and Jiyu both wake up too. Jiyu tells Bantaro that she heard his song and the monkeys congratulate Bantaro, Ruffian style. She then welcomes Shiro back and vice-versa. She is a happy person.

Koinosuke, seeing this, takes the eye-patch and runs to the cliff to summon Yagyu Jubei. He asks to be taken to where Yagyu Jubei is. He admits that he has been nothing but a nuisance to the Nanohana's, but Jiyu doesn't want him to go. As Jiyu approaches him, he disappears. She screams, "No!!!"

Later that day, or a few days after, Jiyu is staring at Koinosuke's hut and remembering the time he built it. His father then asks if she's ready to go. Meanwhile, Shiro is looking at his invitation to the Otomadachi dessert shop and thinks his love reached Jiyu. However, the Ruffians go along side of him and they say they also go the invitation too. Shiro shrugs.

As they are walking, Shiro asks if it's okay for him to go to a party with a bunch of kids. Jiyu explains that the "people defeated by Jubei" will be there too. Then Mikage and her husband, Mick, show up. Sai is heartbroken because Mikage finally says she is married.

At the desert shop, Maro is overjoyed that so many people came to the party for the formation of the New Student Lovelies even though she doesn't know most of them. However, one person is missing. Jubei looks at the Koinosuke whistle and says she'll blow on it when she wants to see him.
