Episode 2: Their Secret
Recap of previous episode with foot in stomach.
Introduction
At school, Yukino is looking at Arima from a window and is fretting that he'll tell the world about her habits at home. However, as the people around Arima talk about the girl looking at them, Arima stays quiet. Yukino is dreading the moment when people will lose all respect for her. However, when Arima and his friends pass, they say nothing, meaning that he has not said anything. She waits day after day and still nothing. So, Yukino concludes that he is not a shallow person who would reveal other's weaknesses. She is relieved.
As she is leaving for the library after class one day, Arima confronts her and admits that he is fully aware of what he can do with her secret. He pleads for him to keep the secret. He agrees, but in exchange gives her a load of his work. She is surprised at this blackmailing. At school, they perform as they usually do, but Yukino is doing double-duty. At night, Arima comes and congratulates her on the work she has done and confesses that he is taking advantage of her because he knows her secret. At home, both siblings say this is poetic justice.
Arima keeps piling up the work for her. Yukino tries to make Arima feel guilty, but he knows she's shedding crocodile tears and piles on more work. As she is doing his work, she realizes that he is a very busy person with a lot of responsibilities. Even though she despises the work he gives her and is treated like a puppy, she and Arima being to talk a lot more than before.
As they are walking home one night, she realizes that there is something special about Arima. Even the classmates at school see this since they are together a lot more.
Intermission
She wonders what is this feeling that she has for Arima. This is the first time she has ever felt this way. However, she tries to deny it to herself. At home, her siblings ask her why she has been late from school everyday and has been a little more taciturn. They guess that she has a boyfriend. Her dad freaks out because there's another important guy in her life. Yukino says there's nothing, but her mom and family talk as if she has a boyfriend.
Back at school, while working in the kitchen, she gets asked if she and Arima are going out. She is surprised by this question. She pretty much says nothing, which one of the friends note is exactly what Arima did. She then wonders whether Arima likes her fake self or her true self since he has told her that he likes her. But as contemplates this issue, she believes that Arima no longer likes her.
One night, Arima arrives in the classroom to pick up the world that Yukino did. She gives him the finished work and tries to storm off. He grabs her to ask what's wrong and she gives him a slap. She then tells him that she doesn't want to be used anymore. As she is running away, Arima trails her. She tells him not to chase her and jumps out a window (she's a perfect athlete so she can do this). Arima does the same since he's also "perfect" and eventually catches up with her.
She confesses to him that she's a fake and that she hates him for what he did. He apologizes and explains that he likes her, especially her humorous side. Since he felt distant from her, he thought that making her do his work would give him an opportunity to talk to her some more. And from that day on, they become good friends.
