Yukino wants the two of them to always be together. However, that is not the case. They are both very busy people preparing the school's field day and attending other events that they can never seem to meet. But she will not let their busy lives get between them. As the countdown to the field day concludes, the whole school is under serious panic. And on top of that Yukino hasn't met up with Arima. However, if she keeps on being this busy, she feels like she'll die soon.
After school, she goes into a classroom hoping that Arima will be there, but there's nobody. So she takes a nap at a desk. She dreams about Arima. And then she thinks about the two months that has past and how much she has changed. She realizes she is now dependent on Arima.
With one day to go until the field day, everyone is running around trying to finalize everything. And in the shuffle, Yukino and Arima encounter each other. They share a moment of togetherness before Arima's friends ask him to help do something. Arima tells them that he can't do it just now and the friends back away. Arima and Yukino go to the roof of a building to take a break. Up there, they talk about how much better it'll be a day later, when the field day is finally over and how much they miss each other. Arima asks her about the weather and then steals a kiss before he runs off back to work.
Episode 5.5/Intermission
Yukino sees Asaba for the first time hanging out with Arima. She asks her friends who he is and they say he's a cutie and drools over him. When they meet in person, Asaba mentions that he knows of her and doesn't think she are that cute. When Arima walks by, she wants to get confirmation of Asaba's assertion, but Arima tells her she is cute. Yukino then makes Asaba her public enemy number 1 and will unleash fury on him.
From that day on, she becomes a pest towards Asaba. This includes jumping out of the bushes and kicking him, stealing his drinks and drinking them before he gets a chance. And then he retaliates. Yukino's friends talk about it and Arima overhears it. Arima then tells her that they're not really friends and that he talks to him as a reciprocal act. They then make plans to go to the movies as the first date.
Asaba shows up and derides her and tells her that he'll take Arima away. She thinks he might be gay, but Arima defends that he likes girls, especially the cute ones. His ambition is to make a "Merry-land" for all his cute little "sheep." He wants Arima to be his partner in this project. Yukino thinks it's nasty. He finally reveals that he doesn't like her because she's Arima's girlfriend. He then gives her a low blow by saying she's a bad person for being fake. Yukino tells Arima and he confronts Asaba. Asaba asks what he sees in her and Arima responds that she doesn't want anything out of him.
At their date, Arima forgets to show up at 1pm, the time of their date. She tries calling him, but he's not home. She waits and waits, even after the movie is over and he has still not arrived. However, Asaba then shows up and makes fun of her. She starts screaming at him about how mean he is. He feels bad for her and decides to give up disliking her because that would just be like fighting a losing battle. He does admit thought that he liked debating with Yukino.
Arima finally shows up and explains that his mom fainted and he had to be with her. Asaba berates him about how he should never make a girl wait, but it is just ploy to get Yukino and Arima on good terms. Since then, the three of them hang out as good friends.
