Episode 12: Where Is Happiness

The episode starts off with Yukino's two sisters recapping the 11 episodes before.

Tsubasa (along with Maho) come to the Miyazawa house with Yukino and so Yukino phones Tsubaki for some assistance in the situation. Tsubaki comes over and tells Tsubasa to go home. However, Tsubasa refuses, explaining that she won't go back until her dad leaves his girlfriend. To the surprise of the Miyazawa family, Tsubaki hits Tsubasa and makes her cry. However, Tsubaki is unfazed by her tears and continues yelling at her. The shocked Miyazawa family offers to keep the new guests for a night. Tsubaki warns them that they shouldn't let Tsubasa have her way tells them that she's already contacted Tsubasa's father and he'll be coming over soon.

Yukino walks Tsubaki home and Tsubaki tries to inform Yukino about Tsubasa's family. Tsubasa's mother died while giving birth to her. Since her father was usually very busy, she was raised by different people and in school, was very unsocial. The only person she was close to was her father. However, since her father has found a new love, she's become upset and jealous. Yukino then realizes the connection between Arima and Tsubasa. Since Arima also grew up with other people, he was the only one who knew how Tsubasa felt.

After Yukino drops off Tsubaki, she returns to her house. The Miyazawas and their new guests, Tsubasa and Maho, eat dinner and then play a game of UNO. Of course, the Miyazawa family acts like their usual silly selves. During the UNO game, Tsubasa sits out and wonders if Arima likes Yukino because she has a healthy family. She things it's disgusting.

Intermission

Tsubasa's father comes to the Miyazawa house and everyone thinks he is gorgeous. However, it turns out he's a klutz. He explains that his daughter has some problems with his remarriage. He continues to explain about Tsubasa's skateboarding accident and how he met his new girlfriend met. His girlfriend is the nurse that helped take care of Tsubasa and is also a widow just like he is. However, he gets carried away with telling how they met. Tsubasa gets fed up with her dad's ramblings and yells at him. Her dad tries to ask why she can't accept her. Tsubasa says she doesn't want anyone else in the house. When the new girlfriend asks whether she likes her or not, Tsubasa says no. After a few more cruel words, Tsubasa pleads with her dad to understand what she is feeling. When the new girlfriend reaches out to Tsubasa, she slaps her hand away. Therefore, Tsubasa's father finally gets the courage to slap his daughter for the first time ever. The Miyazawas are shocked once more.

Because of the tense situation, Yukino's mother recommends that Tsubasa say in the Miyazawa house for the night. Tsubasa's father agrees, but before he leaves, he tells Tsubasa that he is only human and also wants to have someone to depend on. He really wants her to understand.

When they're asleep, Tsubasa dreams of spending time with his father, alone. However, she wakes up and talks out loud about how her father loves the girlfriend more. After a little discussion with Yukino, she concludes that she hates all men because in the end, it's always someone else.

In one of the last scenes, we are introduced to a person in a rock band named Kazuma. He is soon going to be Tsubasa's step-brother.
