Winter Special: Silent Eve

Synopsis

~ December 21st, 1999: ~
While everyone is in the Christmas mood, Naru, Mutsumi, and Keitaro are studying for the prep exams on Chrismtas Eve (kinda harsh, don't you think?). Keitaro tries to be cheerful, but Naru especially doesn't have the Christmas spirit.

~ December 22nd, 1999: ~
Su and Sarah discover a gift in Naru's room with an attached letter that contains the word "love." Rumors fly, and Shinobu tells Keitaro, who then dances around in joy and breaks his leg. When Naru comes to visit the bed-stricken, Keitaro screams out that he loves her. She just runs away.

~ December 23rd, 1999: ~
Without telling anyone, Naru leaves Hinata Inn and goes home to study. Her disappearance makes the other girls wonder. Meanwhile Keitaro, who's on crutches, goes to a clothing store and buys a woman's red coat.

~ December 24th, 1999: ~
At the prep exam, Naru ignores Keitaro. Afterwards, with everyone is following her, Naru goes to Tokyo and gives the present to Seta. Keitaro sees this, drops his own present to Naru (the red coat) in shock, and leaves. In the lobby, Keitaro embraces Shinobu and askes her if she wants to go to the amusement fair with him. Naru sees this embrace and leaves.

The other girls read the letter and see something's wrong. So they split up to look for Naru and Keitaro. Motoko finds Naru in the subway, gives her the coat, and tells her to find Keitaro. Turns out that the coat was something she had pointed out when she was window shopping with Keitaro. After Naru leaves the subway, Motoko is "felt-up" by a pervert and Motoko quickly gives a hand-chop to his face.

Su and Sarah weren't able to go back to Hinata because of lack of funds and the taxi drops them off at a random street. However, Kitsune finds Keitaro and Shinobu at the fair and shows them Naru's letter. Shinobu points out that the letter says "loved" (in the sense that she "loved" Seta). When Su first read it, her finger covered up the "d." They tell Keitaro that he still has time before midnight. After they leave, Kitsune and Shinobu discover neither of them have any more money.

~ December 24th, 1999 5:57pm ~
Keitaro phones back to Hinata Inn where Haruka tells him that Naru called and said to meet at Omotesandoo. Keitaro waits there, but Naru doesn't come because she had forgotten the coat on the subway. Keitaro calls again, and Haruka tells him that Naru called again and said to meet at Shibuya.

At the police station, Motoko can't stop but think how lonely she is. Su and Sarah, as well as Kitsune and Shinobu contemplate their penniless situations. Luck then starts to change. Ken Akamatsu finds Shinobu and Kitsune and offers them jobs of distributing his comics. Naru finds her coat and retrieves it with the help of Kentaro.

~ December 24th, 1999 11pm ~
Keitaro, en route to Shibuya, slips, falls, and passes out and is picked up by Mutsumi. Motoko is released and bumps into her groupie, which makes her feel better. The taxi that dropped Su and Sarah off comes back to pick them up again and offers them a free ride. His reason is that he also has a daughter living alone. His surname is "Maehara."

Kentaro's car gets stuck in traffic, so Naru takes his bike to get to Shibuya. Mutsumi has taken Keitaro to a hotel. Before Keitaro leaves, he tells Mutsumi that he loves Naru. Mutsumi also tells him that she's not his promised girl, but wishes for his happiness.

~ December 24th, 1999 @ 11:52pm ~
Keitaro is trying to find Naru, but is bumped around like a pinball and eventually loses his crutch.

~ December 24th, 1999 @ 11:55pm ~
Without a crutch, Keitaro falls to the ground. Naru looks around and sees something.

~ December 24th, 1999 @ 11:57pm ~
The night lightens up and Naru appears on all the outdoor screens in the plaza. Keitaro approaches the location of the broadcast. On screen, she aplogizes for her behavior and confesses tha she wants to always be with Keitaro and go to Tokyo U. with him (during her confession, Shinobu meets her dad and the Hinata Girls are united). She then wears the coat that he gave her and Keitaro and her meet up. Immediately after, it Christmas Day.

A day or a few days later, during the bath, Naru is still a bit embarassed about the situation and won't admit it again. Keitaro walks in and gets a nice sock to the face (the first Naru-Punch of the show!)
