Mutsumi isn't academically inclinde as evidenced by the rank she got in the nationwide exam. She really isn't all that self-conscious about being seen or touched by another person, especially Keitaro (Naru kicks Keitaro's butt everytime for even the smallest infraction), and gives kisses to anyone she's become fond of. She's forgetful at times, and usually doesn't think things through. She is very similar to Keitaro in that they're both clumsy, both love doing the same things (i.e. taking PURIKURAs), and they've both failed the extrance exam the same number of times. However, despite all her flaws, she sometimes shows more emotional maturity than anyone else put together. And just like Keitaro, she also has the determination to make it into Tokyo U. because she too had promised someone in the past that she would attend. Mutsumi's Likes and Dislikes

Mutsumi is a seemingly happy-go-lucky type of girl who is anemic and is prone to collapses. She is first introduced when Keitaro run into her, causing her to collapse into a death-like state (at Tokyo U. in the anime, on the boat in the manga). After a brief panic, she revives and brings relief to Keitaro who thought he had just murdered a girl.
