Episode 8: Kendo Girl and the Legend of the Dragon Palace: Is This a Dream
Synopsis
The Hinata residents find an old RPG game, but Motoko isn't interested. Over tea, Motoko's group tell her that she seems distrubed and suggest that it could been Keitaro that's bothering her. So she goes to the temple to meditate. She resolves to kick Keitaro out and finds a spaced out Keitaro. Then a princess Naru who becomes kidnapped. Motoko then finds herself in a strange land where she becomes a companion to chibi-Keitaro. They walk around and find chibi-Su riding an ostrich, and Kitsune holding baby Shinobu. They group sees Naru's kidnapper and decide to go after him.
But of course, they need some weapons, so they head to Haruka's tea shop where, as expected, Haruka is also chibi-sized. Haruka tells Motoko that she's the only one not playing along with the others in the quest. Eventually, she dresses appropriately, but refuses to turn chibi like everyone else. They continue their journal, meeting and defeating Haitani and Shirai, as well as summon a legendary dragon/turtle courtesy of Mutsumi. In the end, Motoko's dream fades into Keitaro's childhood in the park, where she finally decides to join in and play with the others.

Comparison to Manga Version
- Keitaro has this dream when he was sick with a fever right before the extrance exam and the story is centered around him rather than Motoko.
- Haruka doesn't appear and it's Motoko who's carrying baby Shinobu.
- It is less RPG-ish in the manga.
