Episode 12: Changing After the Wedding? Swordmaster Motoko's Sunday Best: Feminine

Synopsis

Motoko opens and seals a box from her sister that contains a very feminine Kimono.

At a meal, Shinobu finds a roach that Keitaro is afraid to kill, but Motoko has no problems. However, when she freaks out and faints when she sees a turtle. As she is washing her turtle-smelling clothes, she finds out that she has no more clean clothes, so the Hinata residents dress her up in different outfits. However, in the feminine dresses, her sword technique decreases significantly. Even Tama-chan can stop her sword.

On the train, she notices that she's pretty big for her age and is even taller than Keitaro. So as an idea, comes home after switching clothes with Keitaro. At home, they discover that various metallic items are disappearing and so they go out and try to find the cause. While everyone is dressed in military outfits, Motoko is dressed in a very womanly dress. They suspect it's Tama-chan, so they go around the secret passages of Hinata Inn. They find out that there's a mecha Tama that eats metal and grows. It grows to be the size of Godzilla and they start battling. After many futile attempts, Keitaro asks Motoko to use her swordsmanship. Motoko resists saying she can't while wearing dresses, but Keitaro convinces her that it's her, not the dress, that has the ability to fight. After the battle, she reopens the box and wears her sister's gift.

Notes and Background Info

• A turtle is apparently some sort of phallic symbol. That's why Keitaro reacted the way he did when Motoko was screaming for someone to take the turtle out and why Naru gave him a nice sock in the face.

Comparison to Manga Version

• Motoko was made to dress like a girl in chapter 27 in book 4. In the manga, she lost a duel to Keitaro (Keitaro caught her sword), and so Keitaro made her dress more feminine.
• No mention of any mecha Tama.
