Mr. Fix-It comes to the rescue again! Last night, one of my friends on my floor came and asked if I was free because one of his friends (another person on this floor that I haven't met) was having computer problems connecting to a cable modem. I went over there and tried to diagnose the problem. However, I couldn't because that person was using a company computer which prevented him from changing any of the system settings, so without a superuser password, he couldn't do a thing. And then his roommate (the person I was helping's roommate) sees me fixing a computer and asks whether I know how to fix computers. And so I get called upon to fix another computer. This time, instead of fixing an Internet connection, it was a more serious issue of having a dead hard drive that wouldn't boot up Windows. However, I did manage to salvage his important documents though, and he was pretty grateful for that. He was supposed to meet me today to help him install a new hard drive, but I guess he hasn't gotten it yet. Oh well, what's the use of a skill if you can't help others, right?
