The Real 400th Post

For some reason, my "Gay" post a few days ago showed up twice, so the last post was actually post #399. This is the real 400th post.

Just finished Azumanga Daioh. Gotta say that it's a perfect show for a new graduate like me.

Entry 400!

According to my records here, this will be my 400th post on 'scribbles! Not much to celebrate I guess. I'm currently in the midst of packing and will be leaving the city at the end of the week (yay!). However, it is a bitch packing because I just have too much damn stuff. All of it is going to be dumped, including a blender, lots of electronic wires, keyboards, clothing, etc. In the meantime, I'm trying to finish off some anime series, including re-watching my Azumanga DVDs (currently on the first disc of the San-nen-sei box) as well as reading tons and tons of manga, currently finishing Someday's Dreamers Vol. 2 and will be starting Hinata 120% book 2 soon after.

Ah! I have to do a Negima summary tonight. Kinda getting tiresome, but I started it and I have to keep with it. That's also the reason why I'm not doing anything for Tsubasa. Too much responsibilities.

Ai yori Aoshi Season 2!!!

It seemed like everyone else was having a second season except for Ai yori Aoshi. However, that is no longer the case as Ai yori Aoshi ~ Enishi ~ has been announced! From the description, the story is following the manga and picks up a year after season one. Limited edition merchandise abounds.

Grades!

Grade inflation seriously in effect. I ended up getting 2 A-, 2 A, and an A+. Well, at least I know I'm going to graduate now.

The Purchase List program has been hacked into an Java applet. I think I'm going to use the applet rather than publishing the purchase/collection list from now on.

All-Nighter

To commemorate my last ever academic assignment, I've decided to pull an all-nighter, which will also be my last all-nighter ever. I'm current half way done proofing the final essay that I have to turn in by tomorrow. I believe I'll be done before 8am, which is when I plan to turn it in, but I will not sleep! My backlog of DVDs has increased to 5 and I've got .hack//Mutation to play also.

GAY!

I rarely use that word to describe things, but there's no other term I feel appropriate for describing the graduation gown. The color of the graduation gown is a light blue color. I believe it would be powder blue if it hadn't been worn so many times and not washed thoroughly. But if all 6,000 of us are wearing the same colored gown, I guess it's okay. We can all be gay.

Oh, I am one essay away from leaving academia completely. TOMORROW!

Procrastination

It's amazing what a little procrastination can do. To avoid studying, I composed all the icons for the collection I have not (not populated yet) as well as put in my current buy list from the one I have on this site. Colorful isn't it?

Another Creation

In my attempt to become even more lazy, I'm developing a little shopping list management system for all my DVDs and anime/manga media stuff. Sure there are systems out there such as DVD Profiler or whatnot, but it's more fun making it myself, plus I can customize it. So, here's the scoop (been working on it for the past three days, on and off):

Screenshot 1

As you can see here, the list of stuff to buy is on the left, the stuff I own is on the right. Each type of media (CD, R1 DVD, R2 DVD, Book, Game, Other) is distinguished by its own background color. The text style represents its state. If it's currently on the buy list, it'll be in normal text. If it's in red text, that means it's a new entry automatically inserted into the list. If it has been ordered, it'll be check and the text will be in bold. If it's in gray italic, that means I'm not interested in it (and I can hide them if I so desire). The icons denote the series that item belongs to. You can sort the list based on any of the criteria listed in the header.

The best thing about this is that it automatically downloads the list of upcoming R1 DVD releases from AnimeonDVD.com and puts them in the list (and highlights them with red). That means I can effortlessly keep up with all the newly announced releases (yes, I'm lazy).

Screenshot 2

Once I've received what I ordered, I can change the status of it by dragging the item in the list to the right hand panel, and it'll automatically sort it out and put in the appropriate icons. Meanwhile, the text in the list changes to show that it's already been purchased (bold, italic, and gray).

Screenshot 3

Lastly, it's themeable! Oh, and the list is now hiding thing that are no longer relevant.

The program is still a little buggy at times, but hopefully this will be up and fully operational by the end of the week.

But now, gotta go study for finals.

After 18 years...

Classes are finally over! No more lecture for the foreseeable future. I do have a presentation, two finals and another paper due before I'm completely home free, but what a feeling.

Preliminary Working Model

I have a working prototype of the plugin. It current runs quite well, but is far from complete.

The part I'm currently trying to figure out is how to rank songs. Does it count that you "played" a song for only a second before you switch it? How about if you only play half the song before you change?

Currently, I've implemented it so that you have to be playing the song for at least 5 seconds for it to count. From there, it ranks by the number of times played, then by the percentage of the song played (i.e. if you only play the song half way through everytime you hear it, then it'll have a score of 50% as opposed to songs that you always listen all the way through, which will yield a 100% or so...it's simply a (amount of time you have the song playing) divided by (number of times played) * (song length)). But for now, it automoatically automtically sorts, saves, loads, and jumps to the song on your list if it's already recorded. Yeah, it's ugly, but its functional.

I'm packing up a lot of my DVDs now, and just for memories sake, I buested out the Love Hina concert DVD again. Yuu Asakawa is SOOOOO bad!

Personal Project

I started a little personal project today. It's a Winamp plug-in that keep track of which music files I list to most (a top 10 list type thing). Yes, there are plug-ins that do this already, but none of them fit my exact specifications. I need it to keep track of the directory the files are in because I use directory structure to keep track of which songs go with which album. On top of that, I'm going to make the program automatically upload real-time info on the web site. It's unnecessary, I know, but it's fun and I'm learning.

Under Pressure

You know, I seem to have a habit of not doing what I need to do but focusing on something else. Tomorrow, actually, later today, I have a presentation to do for my project in a class. However, instead of making the slides (yes, I'm that behind), I decide to do my database project, which I just finished. Ah. So tired. But must do the presentation stuff.
