The second of the 12 Negima singles. According to Ken Akamatsu, this cd is #14 on the Oricon singles charts this week. Asuna's CD only reached #16. Still pretty impressive for an just a manga character single. Like the previous single, it has an intro track, 2 variations of a song, the karaoke version, a mini-drama and a message from the seiyuu, who is 野中藍 (Ai Nonaka). First edition includes a Konoka tarot card.
I thought this album was pretty bad. Maybe I'm just untrained, but Konoka doesn't sound right. And unlike Asuna, it's not because I'm not used to it; it just doesn't fit. Ai was fine in Stellvia, but in this role, she's supposed to have a Kyoto accent, as that's where her the character was born. I can understand most of it, but it's not a voice that I would enjoy listening to for a long duration.
The included song, にちようび (Sunday) is subpar. The original mix is very ho-hum, the remix is a little better, but like I said, her accent and voice don't help the composition.
What I did like was the mini-drama, but mostly because it has Asuna there too. The more I listen to Asuna, the more I feel like her voice actress was the right pick. It's a few minutes long and is a converation between Asuna and Konoka early in the morning where Konoka is making breakfast and Asuna has to run off to do her paper delivery. The message from Ai wasn't as enlightening as the previous cd, but interesting. Her regular voice is a little better, but still, there are other voices I prefer.
