Johnny EnglishBeing a huge Mr. Bean fan, I was interested in seeing what Rowan Atkinson was up to these days. I really hate to say it, but I think he's stuck as an actor to roles similar to Mr. Bean. He's found his rut, and I can't imagine him doing any other kind character. It's good and it's bad in a way because he is pretty good at what he does, but I wonder how he feels about it.

The movie is basically a parody of your typical James Bond films where he, as the clumsy Johnny English, trying to save Britain from those evil Frenchmen.

While I enjoyed the physical comedy of the movie, I think it rubbed me the wrong way. I really dislike arrogance, especially when it comes from people who don't deserve it. That was the type of character Johnny English was. Never admitting to his mistakes. I hated him right there. Rowan Atkinson plays the part very well, though. Mmm...Natalie Imbruglia. He role as the main actress an English-girl was a good choice. She doesn't seem overbearingly sexy unlike some of the real Bond-girls, but fits well with Rowan.

The story was pretty weak, but I didn't expect much in terms of depth. Does the Queen of England have the right to confiscate any land that she so desires, as implied by the film? Maybe, maybe not, I don't know. But, I know that Bush and Ashcroft are seeking the same power.

The movie is good for a cheap laugh, but I think there are better ones out there.

Rating: 1/4

To be honest, I really didn't know what the big hubub about him was all during summer. From what I've heard (and it's limited at most) is that he used the Internet to start a grassroots fundraising that the world has never seen before. Stuff like that makes me very wary. Anything that gets too popular too quickly makes me a bit suspicious about the reason why it's so popular, especially if the reason for it's popularity seems to be on shaky grounds. This goes for the dot-com era, and even now with anime/comicbooks (i.e. Spiderman) making a huge revival. Anything that shoots up will come down just as fast. I'm also kinda suspicious about Kerry's popularity too. How the heck did he get all those votes? John Edwards making a comeback? What a wild primary.

While I'm at it, might as well mention that I applied for my absentee ballot today! Being a registered Independent/Non-partisan, I was offered a choice about what party's ballot I wanted to vote in. Too bad I can be there to vote for Clark.
